Concrete Capabilities

BDWG Concrete Studio is a concrete design-build company. We specialize in pre-cast, designer sinks, counters, cladding and furniture elements for residential and commercial environments. We make our own ultra high performance concrete (UHPC), in small batches, utilizing the latest and most reliable methods and materials. High strength, glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) mixes which have become an industry standard, allow us to create stunning 3 dimensional pieces without additional reinforcement. Size and weight limitations are largely only a factor of budget, as new technologies allow us to cast larger, seamless runs. Colors are virtually limitless as well ,our pigment supplier is partnered Benjamin Moore, and we can accurately match any of the colors in the BM master swatch, some 5000 + color tones. Not all projects require this broad approach to choosing a color, but we have found this an invaluable tool for designers, architects, and discerning homeowners. What other material can be used to make a purple farmhouse sink?
We work closely with our clients, usually handling only a handful of jobs at a time. Occasionally, when obliged to pursue larger projects, we have no problem filling large orders for multi-family residential, commercial or hospitality applications. We love working with architects and designers who understand our product, and aren't afraid to use it. We have also, on occasion, manufactured elements for larger companies in a private label type arrangement, feel free to contact us to discuss your project needs no matter how big or small.

Owners Biography

"Concrete to me, is a metaphor for life itself, it has the ability to tell a story. When we make concrete, there is a strong collision of the ingredients. Sand and gravel, cement and water are forced to meld together in the violent act of mixing. They go from individual, inert objects, to the key ingredients of a near perfect composite material. Heat is generated; it is messy, fast and transformative. Once the mixed concrete has been placed in a mold, there is tranquility to the naked eye. But inside, the transformations continue. Compounds are created, by-products emerge, water is consumed, and more heat is generated. In a sense, we are re-enacting geological processes that take millions of years in a mater of a few hours or days. The concrete is permanently transformed from primordial mud to hard, rock-like objects. This process is incredibly magical to me still. Even after thousands of batches, I still revel in the act of demolding a new piece." Andy McDaniel, owner
